The village of Mevagissey is a 10 minute walk away. Featuring numerous shops and cafes. It is also one of the few working harbours in this part of Cornwall.
Within a 10 minute drive are Gorran Haven (another family friendly beach with some amenities and toilets), Hemmick Beach (beautiful and unspoilt) Vault (a bit more remote) and Caerhays Beach (also with some amenities and toilets).
The Eden Project is nearby, around a 20 minute drive away. The Lost Gardens of Helligan (including the excellent Lobbs Farm Shop which sells a wide range of local, organic produce) is only a 10 minute drive away.
Other places to visit within an hour are St. Mawes, Padstow, Newquay, Wadebridge, Falmouth, Truro and Watergate Bay. We’re ideally situated for exploring both the North and South coasts, each with something different to offer.
If you’re into cycling or walking the The Clay Trails and the Pentewan valley trail are very close by. The Camel Valley cycle trail is around 40 minutes away.
There are heaps of places to eat and drink, depending on whether you want fish and chips on the beach, or a gorgeous brunch at Watergate Bay. We can point you in the right direction.
St. Austell is going through a regeneration and has a new cinema, with some shops and cafes.
Or you could take a ferry to Fowey. Several times a day a ferry goes from Mevagissey to Fowey. The 20 minute journey takes you from the heart of Mevagissey to the picturesque village of Fowey – there’s then no need to worry about parking in Fowey, which can be an issue in the summer months. If you’re lucky you might see basking sharks on your journey over.
